ALBANY — The State Legislature approved a restructuring of the board governing troubled Nassau University Medical Center on Wednesday, taking control from County Executive Bruce Blakeman and giving it to Gov. Kathy Hochul.

A federal judge has issued a preliminary injunction against the Trump administration, restoring nearly $1 billion in COVID-19-era education grants to New York, 15 other states and Washington, D.C.

"This isn’t about being anti-phone or anti-technology — it’s about being pro-childhood.

That development came just hours after Las Vegas Sands announced on an investor call Wednesday that it would not be bidding for a New York casino license, even as it said it believed the Coliseum site "should be highly competitive in the New York casino licensing process."

John Durso, president of the Long Island Federation of Labor, representing thousands of union workers, said they "remain optimistic."

"In the union movement, we believe in an 'all of the above' energy approach, and we should not be eliminating technology like offshore wind," said Ryan Stanton with the Long Island Federation of Labor.
