Amazon workers affiliated with the Teamsters union launched a strike at seven of the company's delivery hubs less than a week before Christmas.

Twenty-one states will increase their minimum wages on January 1, raising pay for more than 9.2 million workers by a total of $5.7 billion. In addition, 48 cities and counties will raise their minimum wages above their state wage floors, mostly in California, Colorado, and Washington.

The company, bought by Uber in 2021, must pay the $4 million in restitution to delivery workers after the attorney general’s office said Drizly misled customers into thinking the entirety of tips went to the drivers.

Sands' spokesman Michael Levoff said the company is "committed to a thorough and transparent review" of the project.

“Times are tough and increasing the minimum wage will mean a great deal,” said Durso, who serves as president of the Long Island Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, representing 250,000 union members in Nassau and Suffolk counties.
