About

For the last fifteen years, the Long Island Federation of Labor has provided new skills and information to hundreds of future leaders in our labor movement.

The classes bring in speakers who will lead discussions about the major challenges our labor movement faces day in and day out. Classes will focus on representation skills as well as policy issues. Participants will learn better techniques for grievance handling, arbitration and bargaining and gain some practical experience in speaking out about the legislative proposals meant to shape our future.

One of the highlights of our learning experience has been the class trips to Washington, D.C. and Albany. This year we went be to Albany for briefings from statewide union leaders on legislation and the state economy as well as meeting with elected officials at the State Capitol.

As in the past, the course will be offered at no cost to our affiliates. Classes will be held once a month at the Long Island Federation of Labor. In order to sign up a member or members from your local union, please email Kathy Goodwin at [email protected] or call (631) 348-1170.
