From 2019 to 2024, low-wage workers experienced historically fast real wage growth—a tremendous 15.3%. Yet pay started at such a low point, they continue to suffer from wages that are grossly inadequate to sustain families.

Suffolk County and the police department's largest labor union have reached an agreement for a new proposed contract that would give police officers an 18% pay increase over five years and allow them to reach the top of the pay scale in a shorter period of time, according to a new report.

State Transportation Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez said work zone speed cameras has been proven to slow down drivers passing through active work zones. She said no workers had been injured or killed in the nearly two years since the cameras were implemented.

"This overpass will bring a new driving experience to those who live, work and commute in Suffolk County, and I’m looking forward to seeing its completion," Hochul said.

“Current and former employees don’t know who will take on pending audits amid these staff cuts. But some say one demographic stands to benefit. “The wealthy. One hundred percent,” said Anthony Kim, a longtime IRS attorney now in private practice.”

The new proposed three-year contract includes pay increases between $18,000 and $20,000 during the contract, with annual raises and contributions to pensions and retirement health care. Union officials said the deal would pay nurses "on par with other Long Island nurse wages."
