ROOSEVELT, NEW YORK (JANUARY 2024)—The Roosevelt School District and Laborers Local 66 celebrated this week the launch of an impactful new construction pre-apprenticeship program at Roosevelt High School.

A day on the job should never lead to harassment or violent assault. But more and more, retail workers are finding themselves victims of violence, or even murder, as they simply try to put in an honest day’s work to provide for themselves and their families.

An overwhelming majority of hundreds of nurses at two Long Island hospitals voted to authorize a strike.

The nurses are not currently on strike, but the decision allows negotiators to call a strike if needed.

Workers United NY NJ, the union that Starbucks workers in several Long Island stores voted to join in 2022, has filed a charge with the National Labor Relations Board over the firing of Anthony Price, a former employee at a Westbury store.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released its annual report on union density. The report shows that union membership grew by 139,000  in 2023. Union membership in the private sector increased by 191,000 members, with a majority of new members under the age of 45.
