Women in New York earned 87.5 cents for every dollar earned by men in 2022, according to figures from the state’s 2024 Gender Wage Gap report compiled by the state Department of Labor. Median annual wages for New York women working full time were $60,900 compared with $69,668 for men in 2022.

With increased federal funding, bill supporters said they could advance several important transportation projects on Long Island, including redesigning the interchange connecting the Meadowbrook Parkway and the Southern State Parkway, and electrifying the LIRR’s Port Jefferson branch.

“After the previous administration sided with big corporations to undermine workers — from blocking overtime pay protections to making it harder to organize — my Administration has supported workers,” Biden said.
