State and local governments are facing acute and growing staffing shortages as public-sector pay lags farther behind the pay of private-sector workers.

In a statement, union President Shawn Fain said the contract gives the UAW the right to strike over contractual commitments to build vehicles in the U.S. “Now Stellantis wants to go back on the deal,” he said. “We intend to enforce our contract and to make Stellantis keep the promise.”

The 130-megawatt array produces maximum power at wind speeds of around 30 mph, Stephenson said. On Friday, the wind around the array was around 20 mph and the system was steadily producing around 70 megawatts. Each megawatt that offshore wind produces is enough energy to power around 400 homes.
