The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said in a news release Tuesday evening it is withholding $10 billion in funding to several states, including New York, due to concerns that money is going to people who are not citizens.

The November job gains were higher than the 40,000 economists had forecast. The October job losses were caused by a 162,000 drop in federal workers, many of whom resigned at the end of fiscal year 2025 on Sept. 30 under pressure from billionaire Elon Musk’s purge of U.S. government payrolls.

Many millennial and Generation Z Long Islanders are not optimistic about becoming homeowners, or even being able to afford rental properties.

"Each of the projects made significant commitments to their communities and to New York State, and the Gaming Commission was clear that they will hold these projects accountable and make sure they keep their promises," Hochul said. "That is what New Yorkers expect and what they deserve."

The older plants grow without refurbishment, the less reliable they are. That is a big problem, as these facilities are critical to the reliability of our electric grid.

An investigation opened in 2023 found the logistics company failed to accurately track hours worked, required off-the-clock labor from its workers and manipulated timekeeping systems to reduce paid hours, the attorney general’s office said.
