The AFL-CIO and its affiliated unions that represent workers across private and public sector industries sued the Trump administration over its dismantling of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS), including firing mediators and staff, and closing field offices across the country.

“The board spoke strongly and in unison because they are sick and tired of the lack of action by Commissioner Sullivan when it comes to addressing conditions in the agency that are leading to violent assaults against PEF members and other staff who work there,” said PEF President Wayne Spence.

Pat Guidice, business manager for the local, said in an interview Saturday the next few days will be “critical” and it’s too early to say if the union plans a work stoppage without a new contract by the end of Friday.
