The Trump administration did not successfully halt existing offshore wind projects. Vineyard Wind is now completed and fully operational, while Revolution Wind began sending power to the grid in March.

Suffolk County plans to break ground on the first 12.3-mile section, from the Nassau-Suffolk border at Bethpage State Park to Brentwood State Park, in the spring.

On Tuesday, Islandia’s village board unanimously approved preliminary plans to build a 779-space parking lot on that site. Construction is expected to begin by the end of next month, according to Suffolk OTB president Phil Boyle.

Long Island saw $8.4 billion in visitor spending in 2025, up 6.3% from 2024. That’s according to the “2025 Economic Impact of Visitors to  New York,” a report released by Tourism Economics, a research company.

The East Patchogue project comes on the heels of NYU Langone’s major Long Island expansion. In June, the health system unveiled its plans to build a new Long Island academic medical center, after closing on its $135.5 million purchase of a 45-acre development site in Melville.
