Island Harvest Food Bank and the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) are partnering in the 34th “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive on Saturday, May 9.

On that date, Long Islanders are encouraged to leave nonperishable food items and personal care products in a bag by their mailboxes, where local letter carriers will collect donations during regular delivery. The food drive is designed to reach Long Islanders facing food insecurity.

“Hunger and food insecurity impact about a quarter of a million Long Islanders, including children, families, older adults, and veterans—and virtually every ZIP code is affected,” Randi Shubin Dresner, president and CEO of Island Harvest, said in a news release about the food campaign.
