Grant Newburger
Grant Newburger works every day to ensure working families have a strong voice in shaping the future of Nassau and Suffolk Counties. In this role, he brings together labor leaders, elected officials, and community partners to advance for policies that protect workers’ rights, promote fairness, and strengthen Long Island.
Grant’s path into labor and politics has always been rooted in service to his community. Before joining the Federation, he served as Political Director of the Building and Construction Trades Council of Nassau and Suffolk Counties, where he built coalitions and advocated for legislative priorities that supported union workers and their families. Earlier in his career, Grant held roles in local government and politics, including Political Aide to Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, Public Relations Officer for the City of Glen Cove, Communications Director for Assemblyman Charles Lavine, and Legislative Aide to Legislator Arnold Drucker. Across each of these experiences, Grant developed a deep understanding of how public policy directly affects people’s daily lives, and the importance of having strong advocates in their corner.
Central to Grant’s work is his belief in the power of collaboration. He often says that if you find yourself doing something alone, you’re doing it wrong. For him, the real progress happens when labor, government, and community join forces to find common ground and push forward together.
Recognized as part of Blank Slate Media’s “40 Under 40” Class of 2024, Grant is proud to represent the next generation of labor leadership on Long Island. When he’s not advocating for workers, you can often find Grant on the ski slopes, chasing adventure and enjoying the outdoors.
