Delegates representing more than 250,000 workers across Nassau and Suffolk Counties gathered to the leadership of the Long Island Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO.  John R. Durso, President of the Long Island Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, a longtime union leader and steadfast champion of working people was elected by acclamation on Monday, alongside the Federation’s Executive Board.

Durso, President of Local 338 RWDSU/UFCW, has served as President of the Federation since 2005.  He has lead efforts to strengthen the labor movement on Long Island through coalition building, political engagement, and organizing.  Under his leadership, the Federation has played a key role in advancing pro-worker policies, supporting union campaigns, and uniting labor with community allies across the region. His tenure has been marked by a deep commitment to economic justice, solidarity, and building a stronger voice for working families.
