Great Potential with New Leaders, Shifting Focus for Longtime Executive
Friday, January 14, 2022
This month's edition of the Fed News focuses on the transition at the Long Island Federation of Labor. After nearly two decades of partnership between Roger Clayman and I leading the Long Island Federation of Labor, Roger has decided to step down as the Executive Director. He will continue working with our affiliates, in particular the Building and Construction Trades Council of Nassau and Suffolk Counties, to establish the National Offshore Wind Training Center.
Upon Roger’s announcement, the Executive Board of the Long Island Federation of Labor voted unanimously to appoint Ryan Stanton as the Executive Director. He has spent the last eight years working with our affiliates as the political director and we are confident that this federation could not be in better hands going forward. Joining Ryan at the federation, and filling the role of political director, is Imran Ansari. Imran comes to our federation by way of Discover Long Island, the region’s destination marketing organization. He has a breadth of political experience and spent many years as a public servant. He has worked at all levels of government including stints in the administration of Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, on the staff of former Governor Andrew Cuomo, as well as time in the United States House of Representatives working for Congressman Steve Israel.
As President, and on behalf of the Executive Board, I’d like to convey how excited we are to have this team dedicated to bettering the lives of Long Island’s union movement, and all working families throughout our region.
