Nassau County can't force members of its largest municipal employees union into a new, cheaper health plan until the two sides agree on how much workers will contribute toward premiums, according to a recent court ruling.

"Civics is a big part of this pledge that we're asking our candidates to make. To be good role models for our students in terms of how a democracy should work," said NYSUT President Melinda Person. "The idea for this campaign really came from our members.

Kate Mullany, the pioneer who established the first female union in the United States in Troy, NY, is a figure of immense significance. However, there is a growing concern that many kids are not learning about her role in the union movement or the broader history of unions.

Today’s extremely robust jobs report shows that the Biden–Harris administration continues to deliver for working people. The bulk of the 254,000 new jobs that were created in September were in middle-class sectors, including health care, child care and elder care, and construction.
