With any enormous undertaking, you have to start somewhere.

Sheree Sibilly, a mother of two Brentwood middle school students and president of the district’s special education PTA, said she’s concerned about the district losing money to charter schools and what that could mean for the district’s educational programs, especially those for special education.

The grant will help the water district, which serves about 9,400 households, provide “water that meets or exceeds any standard out there” for removing PFOA and PFOS chemicals, district superintendent Paul Prignano said in an interview.

Orbic hopes to eventually open three more plants in Suffolk at 120 Commerce Dr. and 155 Adams Ave., both in Hauppauge, and at 1560 Fifth Ave. in Bay Shore, said Narula, adding the company expects to create 1,000 jobs within five years.
