Governor Cuomo and Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone have successfully secured $388 Million for sewer infrastructure investment through a combination of State and Federal grant programs. The one time grant funds they secured will be strategically invested in sewer infrastructure in the communities around the Carlls, Connetquot, Patchogue and Forge Rivers, contingent on voters' approval or disapproval in each community.
On January 22, 2019 businesses and residents in three of the four affected communities are tasked with the responsibility of voting on Proposal 1 to decide if these important investments will move forward. It is our responsibility to ensure that all involved, especially our affiliates and their members, have the information necessary to capitalize on the environmental, and economic benefits that would ripple throughout our region by voting YES on Proposal 1. It may be apparent that there are hundreds of good quality jobs at stake that will strengthen our communities, and we must also take into account the substantial benefits of the rehabilitation of our bays and waterways.
We urge you to Vote Yes on Proposal 1 on Tuesday, January 22, 2019. Clean water and economic vitally can and should be part of Long Island's future. This is a pivotal moment in our region to make certain they are.
