Vote No on NYS Constitutional  Convention

Monday, November 6, 2017

Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 7, 2017, is Election Day and the most important vote you cast this year isn't for a candidate. It's for your own rights and wages. We urge you to Vote NO on Prop 1, a ballot question that asks voters whether or not we shall hold a Constitutional Convention. We strongly oppose a Constitutional Convention. As a  movement, we are not willing to gamble with the rights and protections you have earned and fought hard for over the years. Families in New York State work hard to make ends meet, and we're not ready to fund a party for corporate interests and entrenched politicians at the expense of our tax dollars.  We strongly believe that we can and will continue to fight for the changes necessary to make New York State a better place to live, work and play; however, the process of holding a Constitutional Convention is ripe for abuse and not the way to go.  We work too hard.  Please flip your ballot and Vote No on Prop 1.

We understand that voting is a serious obligation we all share as citizens and members of our labor movement. Here we have included a list of candidates that the Long Island Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, in partnership with our affiliates, has screened and endorsed in the interest of electing candidates who understand the needs of working families.  These candidates will ensure that our movement continues to thrive in an economy that works for all working people and not just the wealthy elite.
