The Senate Judiciary Committee will take up the nomination today, and the Republican majority will undoubtedly pass it so the Senate can take it up later this week. There are many reasons to oppose Judge Gorsuch, even if we set aside for a moment the way Republicans treated the nomination of Judge Garland last year, who was not even given a hearing. Judge Gorsuch has routinely favored the rights of corporations over working people. He has ruled against workers on safety and health issues and whistle blower protections. He regularly rejected the claims of employees seeking relief from discrimination in the workplace and frequently denied workers’ efforts to secure earned wages and benefits. He’s a disaster for working people; he’s way out of the mainstream; and he should not be confirmed.
