Supporting Relief Efforts in Puerto Rico

Wednesday, September 27, 2017

As leaders in the labor movement we provide a voice in the work place to those that would not otherwise have one. We understand that when times are tough, we must come together.  We understand that we are stronger together, and that makes for stronger communities.

In that spirit please see the message below from Public Employees Federation President Wayne Spence as it relates relief efforts on behalf of our fellow Americans residing in Puerto Rico.

"PEF Members:

Many of us on Long Island, including me, lived through the devastation of Hurricanes Sandy and Irene and know how important relief efforts are as recovery in hard hit areas continues.

On Saturday, September 30th, PEF is teaming up with other labor unions, and community and clerical groups to help raise funds and gather donations to provide relief to the victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and most recently Maria, which has devastated Puerto Rico.

Please join us if you can for a "PEF Hurricane Relief Day of Hope" at the Cornerstone Church (First Baptist Church of Freeport) at 195 Pine Street, Freeport, NY. We will be there from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM collecting donations and supplies. If you cannot be there in person, you can also donate online to the PEF Hurricane Relief Fund. The attached flyer lists suggested supplies that are needed. All donations are tax deductible.

As New Yorkers and members of the Public Employees Federation, I believe coming together and helping others in need is what we do best and what makes us stronger.

Together We Win!

In unity,

Wayne Spence

PEF President"
