With the unemployment rate at 8.6 percent, working families are in desperate need for more aggressive action to tackle the jobs crisis. 97,200 Long Islanders are without a job and actively looking for opportunities to make an honest living. Working families are asking their representatives whether they will continue faulty trade deals and tax policies that benefit corporate executives at the expense of working families.
We are opposed to policies that ship American jobs away, jobs that could put unemployed Americans back to work. Some experts are questioning whether our national security is at risk due to the erosion of the nation’s domestic manufacturing base due to continued outsourcing. In New York State, from 2007-2010, 85,400 New Yorkers lost their manufacturing jobs.
